Poggio La Noce: Our Favorite Olive Oil From Our Favorite People
We love Poggio la Noce because it captures the soul of true Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. And to capture that soul, one must have a soul — in fact, eight souls. Owners Enzo Schiano and Claire Beliard, along with Roberto, Matteo, Andrei, Indika, Jude, and Lara, bring theirs to every harvest. The olives, primarily Frantoio, Leccino, and Moraioloare, are hand-picked from their certified-organic, 1,500-tree grove, and immediately cold pressed on the estate within hours of harvest in a small, modern mill. The ability to press the olives on-site locks in the lowest possible acidity and the lush fragrance of freshly cut grass, almonds, and artichokes. Meticulous organic farming, careful pruning, and the grove’s exceptional terroir yield a silky, intensely flavorful oil that’s not just one of our favorites — it’s a testament to the passion of two (actually eight) of our favorite people.
