Great Gift Ideas: Olio Novello & Panettone
Our shipments from Italy of Olio Novello and Panettone are in and they’re reasons to rejoice.
Olio Novello is an eagerly anticipated event at our store every year. When the new harvest oils arrive — fresh, peppery, and vibrant green — we get really excited. This is the peak of enjoyment for olive oil: the freshest, highest quality oils in the world, mere weeks old, flown from Italy right to our tables. Freshly pressed and bottled unfiltered to retain their lively flavor, these intensely green and electric oils are perfect for drizzling over salads, soups, fish, and grilled meats. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
This year’s quartet of oils (the four-pack) would make an all-star lineup on any table. Each is unique, and all of superior quality. Think how many salads, how many drizzles over your ribeye, and how many fresh baguettes you will dip! A bottle of wine can be gone in a sitting. These are the gifts that keep on giving!
The Olio Novello Class of 2024
Accademia Olearia (Sardinia): Crafted from Bosana olives harvested in the olive groves of Alghero and Sassari in northwest Sardinia, the freshly pressed and unfiltered oil delivers a deep green color and a robust, full-bodied flavor.
Tenuta Sant’Ilario Dazero (Abruzzo): Crafted from olives harvested along the Adriatic Coast in Pineto, Abruzzo, this remarkable oil was pressed just weeks ago and boasts an extravagant green color and a peppery, grassy flavor. With exceptional viscosity, it clings beautifully to bread, greens, and vegetables.
Madonna dell’Oliva (Campania): From master producer Antonino Mennella of Salerno, Campania, this limited edition Raro EVOO is crafted from pitted Ravece and Rotondella olives using advanced pressing techniques, resulting in exceptional freshness — almost like olives straight from the tree. Intensely green and vibrant in flavor.
Colli Etruschi (Lazio): This timeless classic captures the rich history and tradition of Tuscia, offering a fruity and full-bodied flavor profile thanks to a blend of Caninese, Frantoio, and Leccino olives. It’s the color of deep green algae with the viscosity of 60WT motor oil.
