Jonboy Caramels: Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce

In 2008, Jon Sue was making caramels at home in Ballard for family and friends as gifts. After tasting them, his friend Jason Alm was so impressed that he suggested turning them into a business. A few months later, they started selling Jonboy Caramels at the Ballard Farmer’s Market, focusing on locally sourced ingredients and creating unique, small-batch caramels.
Their caramels feature organic cream and butter from Meadowsweet Farms, brown rice syrup out of the Lundberg fields in Northern California, and as many locally sourced products as possible. No corn‑syrup shortcuts, no lab‑grade stabilizers. You can read every ingredient without a chemistry degree.
One of our favorites is their Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce. Warm it gently, and apply liberally to your vanilla ice cream, tart apples, dark chocolate, or your favorite spoon. If you prefer to be able to pick your caramel up with your fingers, then their Original Fleur de Sel Caramels are for you. These caramels are what got the whole thing started. They are rich & buttery with an impossibly silky texture. This is not an either/or scenerio…you can have them both! Whatever your preference, both are still made in Ballard with the same passion and care that got Jonboy started.
